As one of our returning Gala beneficiaries Inner-City Arts continues to provide vital arts programming to some of the city's most at-risk children. Students who have attended Inner-City Arts' programming have shown dramatic increases in statewide standardized test scores, but perhaps more importantly, participation in the creative arts has also shown to provide a sense of well-being and accomplishment that lasts a lifetime. Back by popular demand, the IFPDA is pleased to announce the return appearance of Los Angeles printmaker Dave Lefner, demonstrating the technique of block printing on wood and linoleum. Visit the IFPDA Print Demonstration booth for a peak at the processes behind the art of printmaking. Dave will show how the block can be printed in many ways, by varying the paper on which it is printed, the color(s) in which it is printed, the humidity of the paper, etc., creating a unique impression each time. There will be a Marathon of Mozart and Mendelssohn, honoring the upcoming anniversaries of the births of composers Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (January 27), and Felix Mendelssohn (February 3).
The piano will be in the Grand Entry Hall prior to entry into the show. The piano in concert will be a Steinway & Sons Model "A" William Steinway Limited Edition in Rosewood.
